What is LEARN Network?

LEARN Network is a non-profit organization whose main goal is to promote adult education in Northern Indiana. We work with a variety of local educational, governmental and business organizations to help provide adults with the information and tools they need to continue their education, start a business or enrich their life through learning.

LEARN Network focuses on three keys to community learning:

Showing adults that continuing education can improve their lives

Whether it is obtaining your GED or pursuing an advanced degree, adults should know that any education will improve their chances at getting and keeping a job.

Increasing people's awareness regarding local educational opportunities

Providing help for businesses

What's your big idea? Four steps to test the feasibility of your business idea. This section will help students analyze their idea before preparing a business plan. Take this section if you are just thinking about starting a business or are an existing business owner who wants to analyze ideas for expansion.

NxLevel for Entrepreneurs This section will include writing the business plan and basic business management principles. Take this section if you have a business idea or if you are an existing business owner who wants to improve management skills or develop a business plan.

Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) Class offered in Rochester!

Take your first step in the healthcare profession. Become a certified Nurse Aide while you earn college credit. This course includes lecture, lab, a clinical experience in a long-term care facility and a state certified final exam. The course fee is $539 for 5 credit hours plus a $60 technology fee ($599 total) covers tuition and books.

Small Business Loans

Thanks to a grant from the USDA, Fulton Economic Development Corp. can make low interest loans to small businesses in Fulton County that have less than $1 million in gross sales and fewer than 50 employees. Funds can be used for a variety of business expenses such as equipment, construction, and working capital. Application is required. Contact Fulton Economic Development Corp. at 574-223-3326

Training Funds

The USDA also awarded funds to Fulton Economic Development Corp. to assist small businesses in Fulton County with training needs. These funds can be used to cover the cost of training for owners and/or employees. Businesses must have less than 50 employees and fewer than $1 million in gross annual sales. Application is required. Contact Fulton Economic Development Corp. at 574-223-3326

A county-wide community outreach service that coordinates business-school partnerships.

Local Business Courses

Fulton Economic Deveopment Corp. is working hard to meet the educational needs of businesses at all stages. A monthly introduction to business ownership course is being offered. The NxLevel Business Planning and Management Course is also offered for those who are considering starting a business or current owners who want to create a business plan for expansion or financing. NxLevel is held twice annually in the spring and fall, and we will be taking applications soon for the spring 2012 class. Other workshops and seminars, targeted to businesses, are offered throughout the year.

Financial Aid for College

Completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the first step in the financial aid process. The purpose of the FAFSA is to help the U.S. Department of Education and financial aid administrators determine your eligibility for federal and state aid. The State

Student Assistance Commission of Indiana (SSACI) and your college or university also use the information received from the FAFSA to determine eligibility for other forms of financial aid.

The quickest way to apply is online at fafsa.ed.gov . To request a paper application or complete the FAFSA over the phone, call 800-4-FED-AID. Once you've completed your FAFSA, a Student Aid Report (SAR) will be generated and you should receive a copy by email or mail. The colleges you list on your FAFSA receive your information after the application has been processed.

There are many different kinds of financial aid. Some, such as loans, have to be repaid, while others, such as grants and scholarships, do not. For more information, contact the financial aid department at your college or university.

College Goal Sunday

College Goal SundaySM is a statewide charitable program that provides FREE information and assistance to Indiana families applying for financial aid for postsecondary education. At College Goal Sunday – now in its 23rd year – financial aid professionals from Indiana colleges and universities help students who qualify for undergraduate admission to a college or technical school in 2012 complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Students seeking federal and state grants, loans and scholarships, as well as other financial awards, MUST complete the form. FAFSA forms, required by educational institutions nationwide, must be received by the federal processor by March 10, 2012 for Indiana residents to be eligible for state aid. College Goal Sunday 2012 will take place at 2 p.m. (local time) Sunday, February 12th, at 40 sites throughout the state.
